COVID-19 pandemic has a profound impact on businesses in all industries. From supply chain disruption to changes in work arrangement, businesses are forced to adapt to the vigorous COVID-19 policies implemented. This has made the business environment highly unpredictable, and many SMEs find it hard to sustain. However, the pandemic ushered in the opportunity to implement better cost-saving solutions as the Singapore government release multiple grants to assist businesses through this tough time. It’s time to start utilising these grants to grow your business and enhance its sustainability!
1.SGUnited Trainee/Mid-Career Programme
This programme is meant to support Singaporeans through expanding job, traineeship, and skills training opportunities. K.Merleone encourage organisations to make use of this programme and tap on the government support as the government will be co-funding up to 90% of the salary support for the duration of the attachment. This means that you are more likely to hire skilled Singaporeans with lower staff costs. CPF contribution is not payable on training allowance as individuals under the SGUnited programmes do not share an employee and employer relationship with the host organisation. The training allowance given varies depending on the scope of the attachment, which we can advise at a later stage.
How do you apply for it?
*note that each organisation can only apply for the programme once.
2.Place-and-Train Programme (P-Max)
If you have already recruited a new PMET employee in the last three months with at least a gross monthly salary of $2,500, P-Max may be the better employment grant for you!
P-Max is a programme that helps SMEs to recruit, train, manage and retain their newly hired PMETs by encouraging the adoption of progressive HR practices within SMEs. SMEs who are hiring can also seek assistance from the PMs to screen and refer suitable job-seeking PMETs for their job vacancies under the programme. This increases the job compatibility of the new employee and the organisation.
